Cone art pieces placed

(LE MARS)–Thirty-two cones and a cow are being placed throughout Le Mars for a public art project.

The Olson Cultural Event Center cone, in downtown Le Mars, painted by Le Mars artist Jean Wiener is provided by JRE Property Pros of Le Mars.

Tulip is the name an elementary school student gave to the Dean Foods cow along 12th Street Southwest. The cow is the only exception to the public art cones. She was created by Kim Strohbeen an artist and a teacher with the  Le Mars Community School District.

Russell Johnson of Omaha created automotive action in the cone created for Total Sales and Service on Business Highway 75 South.

Lisa Scheitler brought a financial theme to the top of the Great Southern Bank cone on Plymouth Street Northwest.

The cone at the Cleveland Castle Playground area by the clock tower was painted for Tetra pak  by Robin Whitehead with a nature theme.

The others cones will be added as artists complete them. City of Le Mars Public Works employees are placing the cones.

Anyone who’d like to be part of the Public Art project may contact Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce Main Street Program Manager Mary Reynolds by calling the chamber at 546-8821.
