(GRANVILLE)  — Gehlen Catholic ran their record to 10-and-1 and 7-and-0 in the War Eagle Conference with a 5-3 victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in a game played at Granville’s Vosburg Field Friday night.  The Jays struck for four runs in the fifth inning to break-up a 1-all pitcher’s duel between Gehlen’s Mitchell Flack and H-M-S’ Ryan Flynn.  Brady Heying’s two-run double put Gehlen ahead 3-1 and a sacrifice fly by Flack followed by a run-scoring passed ball gave the Jays a 5-1 advantage.  The Hawks reached reliever Jarod Steffes for two runs in the seventh before their rally was halted.  Flack got the win to improve to 2-and-0, working 5 2/3 innings and allowing just one hit while walking four and striking out six.  Gehlen returns to action Monday at Remsen St. Mary’s.  KLEM will feature the War Eagle Conference match-up starting at 7:30.
