Digging Out From The Snow

(Le Mars) — People were seen Saturday morning digging out from the 10 1/2 inches of snow that dumped on Le Mars and all of northwest Iowa from Friday’s snow storm.  The season’s first snow storm caused many cancellations, as well as traffic accidents, and several vehicles that ended in the ditch.  Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department reports at least 15 vehicles that went into the ditch.  The latest  road condition report from the Iowa Department of Transportation shows all roads in northern Iowa are snow covered and ice packed.  Interstate 29, U-S Highways 75, 71, 20, 18, and 59, and state highways 60, 3, 12, and 9 have both lanes completely covered.  Plymouth County officials say the county roads are still snow and ice covered. Travel is still not suggested, but if you do need to travel, authorities suggest you proceed with caution.  For the latest road condition report, go to https://www.511ia.org
