Camper Trailer Catches On Fire

(Akron) — A camper trailer caught on fire and was totally destroyed Sunday morning at about 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 3 and Diamond Avenue. The Akron Fire Department responded to the blaze, and Akron Fire Chief Shane Coyle says the trailer was fully engulfed and a total loss when fire fighters arrived on the scene. Coyle isn’t certain as to who the owners are and their home address, but he did say the trailer was returning home following a weekend at the “Creekfest” concert series held near Cherokee. Coyle believes the fire may have started from a blown tire that went unnoticed by the owners and wooden materials within the camper trailer got hot, which ignited the fire. Coyle says there were no injuries associated with the fire. Akron Fire officials were on the scene for approximately a half an hour. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s office assisted with traffic control at the scene.
