Businesses Encouraged To Attend Google Workshop

(Le Mars) — Businesses of all sizes and focus are encouraged to attend a workshop
scheduled for Thursday morning at the Le Mars Convention Center. The workshop
will look at why local businesses should be listed on a Google Search.

Pam Johnson serves as a Business Counselor with the SBDC. Johnson offers an
overview of tomorrow morning’s workshop.

Johnson says since the yellow pages telephone directory no longer serves as the
preferred method of finding listed businesses, she says it is vitally important
that small businesses are featured on Google.

When people conduct a business search, often times they will act on the first few
names that are mentioned. Johnson explains how businesses can make certain their
individual business will be noticed.

The business counselor says all demographics and generations across the board are
now using Google search. Attendees to the workshop are encouraged to bring their
laptops, tablets, or smart phones for a “hands-on” demonstration.

The Google small business workshop will begin at 7:30 a.m. and space is still
available for interested businesses. The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce and the
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Plymouth County are sponsoring the
program.

Floyd Valley Healthcare Scores High Marks On Audit

(Le Mars) — Floyd Valley Healthcare Board of Trustees were given good news from a
Des Moines auditing firm when they met this week. Representatives from the Denman
and Company informed the hospital trustees that even though a major construction
project is wrapping up, the financial position of the local healthcare facility is
in good shape. Administrator Mike Donlin comments on the audit results.

Donlin says Floyd Valley officials were given a stamp of approval by the auditing
firm for following the correct procedure and doing all the right things.
