Bibler’s Murder Trial To Be Further Delayed

(Le Mars) — A hearing was held Monday afternoon for the man accused of stabbing to death his sister. Thomas Bibler faced Judge Jeff Neary today at Plymouth County District Court. Bibler, age 34, is accused of stabbing his sister, 27 year old Shannon Bogh, back in June of 2016. He has pleaded not guilty to the
charge of murder. Bibler has requested to be tried by a judge, and has waived his right to a jury trial. During yesterday’s hearing, a question relating to the state’s psychologist expert witness was raised by the defense. Defense attorney Billy Oadarye objected to the scope of questions that the prosecutor’s
expert wanted to ask the defendant, Thomas Bibler. Judge Neary said in court he will allow the Defense to file a formal motion objecting to the witness’ line of questioning. Neary is giving the Defense until June 2nd as a deadline to file the motion. After that date, Judge Neary will decide whether the expert witness’ questions of Bibler’s mental state will be admitted for court.
Plymouth County Attorney, Darin Raymond informed the court, that there have been other precedent cases within Iowa, and urged Judge Neary to look at those previous cases. As for a trial date, no date has been established, but court officials believe at the earliest it may be in mid-July or could be pushed back
to August or September.

National EMT Week

(Le Mars) — This week marks the recognition of Emergency Medical Technician Week, a time when we honor those people that respond to our emergencies, and provide aid and transport to a hospital. Kevin Rollins of Remsen has been volunteering as an E-M-T for more than 37 years.

Rollins says it is a large time commitment and expense to become certified as an E-M-T.

Rollins says to become a paramedic, it requires even more expense and education training.

The Remsen Ambulance volunteer says a problem, not only with Remsen, but with many communities is to find enough volunteers to serve as an E-M-T.

The Remsen Ambulance Service will be hosting a Chamber Coffee Wednesday morning at the Remsen Ambulance Building, and then Thursday evening they will hold a fund raising event.
