(Le Mars) — KLEM radio sports director, Denny Callahan was honored Saturday with the John Britton Memorial Award. The Le Mars Little League presented the award to Callahan. According to Heath Husk, Director of the Le Mars Little League, the award was presented to Denny Callahan for his continued support of the Le Mars Little League program. “We appreciate it when Denny (Callahan) reads the scores of the ballgames on his sports news reports. It makes the kids feel special to hear the result of their ballgames on the radio.”
During the award presentation, Husk told the gathering at the Little League parks the following comments.
“Denny has been covering our local sports for as long as I can remember, his love of the game no matter what sport it is along with his enthusiasm and encouragement for all the kids is exactly what this award stands for. John always appreciated everything Denny has done and continues to do for our Little League, the youth of Le Mars and the surrounding communities.”
