Primebank and The Education Station To Present “Back To School” Outdoor Summer Movie

(Le Mars) — Later this evening (Thursday) at sunset, Primebank and The Education Station will be hosting an outdoor movie.  Brad Pick of Primebank says the movie is to serve as a last family gathering event before school begins.  He says the movie should appeal to all generations and ages.

Pick says he isn’t allowed to mention the movie’s title name, but adds it is a movie that nearly everyone is familiar with, and one that everyone should enjoy.
Pick says the movie is free with no admission charge.  He says the movie will be presented at the Le Mars Primebank’s parking lot.

This marks the second year that Primebank and The Education Station have teamed up to feature the end of the summer movie.

Iowa Boy Able To Change Schools Due To Bullying

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – A western Iowa teenager who faced harassment at school has been allowed to enroll in another district after his local school board denied his request for a transfer.
The Des Moines Register reports that the Oakland student’s clothes were thrown into a gym toilet and the word “snitch” was painted on his car. The Iowa Board of Education said Wednesday that the teen faced escalating harassment.
The board says the student, identified by initials K.M., faced physical and verbal threats from a group of ninth-grade students after he overheard a conversation about drinking and drugs in a gym locker room.
K.M. sought permission to open-enroll out of the Riverside Community School District, but the local school board denied his request, citing a missed application deadline.

Woman Who Voted Twice Is Given Probation

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – An Iowa woman charged with attempting to vote twice for Donald Trump last fall has been sentenced to two years of probation and a $750
fine.
District court Judge Robert Hanson said in a sentencing order posted Tuesday that the felony election misconduct conviction will be expunged from Terri Lynn Rote’s record once she completes probation and pays the fine.
Rote, who is 56, pleaded guilty last month.
Rote, a Trump supporter, was arrested Oct. 21 after showing up at a Des Moines early voting site to cast a second ballot for Trump in the Nov. 8 election. She told police she believed Trump’s claims that the election was rigged and she feared her first ballot would be changed to a vote for Hillary Clinton.

Powerball Jackpot Expected To Pass $510 Million For Saturday’s Drawing

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $510 million, making it one of the largest in U.S. history.
No one matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, so the national lottery game will continue to grow ahead of the next drawing Saturday night. At $510 million, the drawing would be the eighth largest lottery jackpot.
The prize figure refers to the annuity option, in which winnings would be paid out over 29 years. A winner who took the cash option would snag $324.2 million, though that would be subject to state and federal taxes.
Powerball is played in 44 states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
