School Board Approves Proposal For $5 Million Stadium Renovation

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Community School Board approved a plan to proceed with a nearly $5 million dollar fund raiser campaign to renovate the football field, track and stadium. Dennis Bixenman of the Le Mars Community School District
Foundation appeared before the school board, and presented a proposal to be considered.  Bixenman and School superintendent Dr. Steven Webner confirmed a donor has agreed to contribute $2 million dollars for the renovation of the stadium.

The plan would include the widening of the present track, the construction of a new stadium bleacher area, a separate entrance for visiting teams and fans, the installation of synthetic artificial turf, and a plaza area to be constructed immediately behind the new stadium.  School board member Pat Murphy, spoke in favor of the proposal and encouraged his fellow school board members to go along and approve the plan.  Murphy says
he has wanted such action for a long time.

Murphy says he has met the donor, and believes the donor simply wants to make Le Mars Community into a great school by assisting with the facilities.

Murphy says having the new facility will benefit the Le Mars Community School District.

The school board then held a roll call vote on the proposal to renovate the stadium and football field.
