P’s Pizza House To Expand Into Dakota Dunes

(Le Mars) — P’s Pizza House has announced plans to expand into yet another community. Just this year, the popular sports bar and grill located in Le Mars, first expanded into Orange City. Now, the restaurant has announced it plans to set up a third location in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Joe Sitzmann, P’s Pizza
House owner says “with local business people and residents asking for an option in Dakota Dunes that offered great food and a fun atmosphere, we welcomed the opportunity to expand into a third location and meet the area’s needs.” The new
restaurant will include a 60 seat event room, mezzanine seating and event space, golf simulator lounge, and always the latest audio/video technology to accommodate the sports fans. Also new to the Dunes location will be a pizza bar with a coal fired pizza oven where you’ll get to watch the staff in action and
grab a slice while you wait or a quick lunch.
With plans underway for a November groundbreaking for the 8,000 square foot, 220 seat free-standing building, Sitzmann stated, “We look forward to joining the Dakota Dunes community and opening the doors to a new P’s Pizza House in 2018.”

Wet Conditions Have Delayed Farmers From Harvesting On Schedule

(Le Mars) — Farmers have been delayed with this year’s harvest due to the wet field conditions and frequent rain showers.  In the latest weekly crop condition report issued Monday afternoon, it shows only 32 percent of the state’s soybean crop has been harvested, and just 13 percent of the state’s corn crop.  Iowa State University Extension crops specialist for northwest Iowa, Joel DeJong says there have been a few cases of quality concerns due to the wet conditions.

“DeJong, Joel”

DeJong says there are some cases of mold found in some corn fields.

DeJong expects to see farmers will take advantage of the weather forecast calling for sunny skies and warm temperatures through the week. He anticipates a lot of soybeans will be harvested before the next round of showers which is
predicted for Saturday.

DeJong says the good news about the autumn rains is that it is replenishing the needed moisture for the subsoil levels.

The Iowa State University crops specialist expects to see a high percentage of the soybean crop harvested at week’s end.
