American Legion Participates In “Wreaths Across America”

(Le Mars) — Members of the Le Mars American Legion Wasmer Post #241 participated in the “Wreaths Across America” program Saturday morning by placing seven different wreaths at the Plymouth County Veterans Memorial Park.  The seven wreaths represented each of the branches of the military, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, plus a wreath for the Merchant Marines, and the POW-MIA’s.  More than 1400 locations participated in the annual “Wreaths Across America” ceremony.  The program began 25 years ago when a group of volunteers and American Legion members started placing wreaths at the graves of the soldiers located at the Arlington National Cemetery at Washington D.C.
