“Taste of Summer” Little League Fund Raiser A Success

(Le Mars) — With temperatures in the mid-40’s and the sun shinning, it made for a near perfect day for the Le Mars Little League “Taste of Summer” annual fund raiser held on Saturday. One long-time volunteer with the Little League program
commented, the weather was “perfect,” especially after the frigid cold temperatures from earlier in the week. The volunteer further commented that if it had remained cold, then the event may not have enjoyed the level of success.
This year, the event was held at Bob’s Drive-Inn with several hundred people that turned out for a taste of the famous Bob’s hot dogs. The adjoining parking lot to the famous drive-inn was overflowing with vehicles, and not just from Plymouth County, but, several cars with Sioux, Woodbury, and O’Brien county
license plates were seen. There were even some cars with Nebraska and South Dakota license plates.  Inside Bob’s Drive-Inn was standing room only. Within the first hour and a half of opening, nearly 1,000 hot dogs were served. Officials
estimate more than 1500 hot dogs will be sold and consumed before the conclusion of the popular event. A flyer on the wall informed those waiting for their hot dogs that nearly $75,000 has been raised for the Le Mars Little League program since the inception of the “Taste of Summer.” The event is a cooperation between Bob’s Drive-Inn, the American Legion Wasmer Post #241, and the Le Mars Little League Association.
