Clearing 10 Inches of Snow

(Le Mars) — City crews were out early this morning clearing the nearly 75 miles of city streets and removing the ten inches of snow from yesterday’s winter snow blizzard.  County and state road crews began their morning clearing the 1300 miles of highways and roadways. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation road condition map, Highway 3, east of Akron remains blocked, because of the snow, and because of a stalled vehicle.
Highway 75 and Highway 60 has snow plows moving the snow, and they are applying sand and/or salt to the highways. A tow band still remains in effect for northwest Iowa.
KLEM spoke with Plymouth County engineer Tom Rohe about the county crews and the road conditions.

Scott Kniep, the superintendent for the Le Mars city public works offers an update to the condition of the Le Mars city streets.
