Kurth Inducted into Hall of Fame

CEDAR RAPIDS — Longtime Gehlen Catholic baseball coach, Marty Kurth, was inducted into the Iowa High School Baseball Hall-of-Fame Saturday night in Cedar Rapids during the Iowa High School Coaches Association banquet.  Kurth completed his 31st season as the Jays head baseball coach last summer.  It was likely his last in the dugout as an eye condition has greatly limited his eyesight.  Kurth has a career coaching record of 522 wins and 335 losses.  The Jays won two State titles and were runner-up one other time during Kurth’s tenure.  Gehlen also won four War Eagle Conference titles, one Sectional championship, 8 District titles and six Sub-State titles.
