Eddie Webb Reflects On His Time With KLEM Radio

Eddie Webb, formerly of Le Mars, was a co-emcee at Thursday evening’s “Spring Fling” event hosted by the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.  Standing in the background was the other emcee, Teresa Petty.

(Le Mars) — It may have been snowing outside the Le Mars Convention Center Thursday evening, but inside, people were celebrating the “Spring Fling” annual fund raiser for the Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars. People enjoyed a fashion
show, auction and silent auction. The Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars has been in existence for 60 years, and event emcees Teresa Petty and Eddie Webb kept the gathering entertained as they reminiscence about the past six decades of news events, popular music, television shows, fashions, and movies.
Webb explains part of the reason why he agreed to emcee the evening’s fundraiser is because he has a special and personal connection with the staff and administration of the Good Samaritan Society.

Webb is a native of Le Mars, but made his mark in the world by being a nationally-known syndicated professional announcer for classic rock stations across the country. However, he got is start at the age of 15 with his home town radio station here at KLEM. Webb recalls his first time visiting KLEM.

Webb describes his duties at his first job in radio, here at KLEM and the former KZZL-FM.

Given Webb’s interest in classic rock music, Webb was asked if there was ever a moment when he would play one of his musical favorites that wasn’t approved for the KLEM play list?

Through his career, Webb had the opportunity to meet hundreds of musicians, many of which were his musical idols. He says he often wondered how a kid from Le Mars was able to enjoy the opportunities.

A highlight for the Le Mars native professional radio announcer was when he was selected to host a daily segment on a television music cable channel called “VH-1”.
