Chamber To Host Trivia Night

(Le Mars) — If you have an interest in trivia you may want to participate in the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce Trivia Night fundraiser scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Mary Reynolds says this is a new idea for the Chamber of Commerce.

Reynolds says the questions will be across the board with many different types of categories.

Reynolds says the teams will compete against each other, but individuals are also welcomed.

The Le Mars Chamber official says unlike the March Madness NCAA Basketball Tournament, there are no brackets, and no team will be eliminated.

People interested in participating with the Chamber Trivia Night need to contact the chamber office at (712) 546-8821 in order to register.

Foxhoven Confirmed By Iowa Senate To Lead Human Services

(Des Moines) — The Iowa Senate has voted to let the man who’s been leading the state’s largest agency stay in the job. Governor Kim Reynolds appointed Jerry Foxhoven to be director of the Iowa Department of Human Services in June, but two-thirds of the members of the Iowa Senate must vote to confirm agency leaders for the positions. Republican Senator Mark Segebart (SEG-eh-bart) of Vail read Foxhoven’s resume to his colleagues before Wednesday’s vote.

Foxhoven had to get 34 “yes” votes in the senate to remain as D-H-S director. Thirty-eight voted “yes” to confirm him for the job. Eleven senators voted no. Senate Democratic Leader Janet Petersen says she wanted “more time to get more answers” from Foxhoven about problems in the state-run Medicaid program.

Petersen and Segebart were the only two senators who made comments on Foxhoven’s nomination. Foxhoven, who is an attorney, is a former Drake University professor with a background in child and family law.
