FATAL FARM ACCIDENT IN SIOUX COUNTY

Authorities say a man was fatally injured when he was run over by a piece of equipment at a farm in northwest Iowa.

Fifty-two-year-old Bradley Peetsch, of Baxter, Minnesota, was killed when he was run over by a payloader being operated by 17-year-old Joey Van Ginkel of Rock Valley.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Peetsch was walking behind the payloader as Van Ginkel was backing it up on a farm four miles west of Rock Valley.

The accident, which happened Monday afternoon, remains under investigation.

SIOUX CITY ART CENTER TO HIGHLIGHT BRIAR CLIFF EXHIBITION

Sioux City’s Art Center will host a reception Thursday evening to celebrate a new exhibition.

Curator Todd Behrens says the Briar Cliff Review Exhibition features artworks selected for the university’s annual journal of essays, poetry, and visual arts:

Behrens says the free reception will have complimentary food and beverages and a chance to interact with the artists:

The reception begins at 6pm at the downtown Art Center and the exhibition will remain on view through July 8th.

Those attending the reception may park along the streets or in the parking lot of either Wells Fargo or the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

WEDNESDAY ACCIDENTS IN PLYMOUTH AND SIOUX COUNTY 

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that
occurred on Wednesday at around 9:20 on Highway 140.

Sonya Stroman, age 43, of Le Mars, IA was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was travelling northbound on Highway 140 and lost control due to slush and snow on the roadway. The vehicle swerved and entered the east ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to a rest on it’s top.

No injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, April 18, at 5:57 am, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jackson Avenue, one mile north of Orange City, IA.

Melissa Jacobson, age 40, of Hull, IA was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound on Jackson Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy electrical power pole.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $1,500 in damage. The power pole sustained approximately $2,000 in damage.


On Wednesday, April 18, at 6:22 a.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 360th Street, three miles northwest of Sioux Center, IA.

Holly Scholten, age 26, of Larchwood, IA was driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on 360th Street when she lost control of the vehicle, entered the south ditch and rolled.

No injuries were reported.

The Jeep sustained approximately $9,000 in damage.


On Wednesday, April 18, at 6:53 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 75, three miles west of Hull, IA.

Korey Klaassen, age 49, of Sanborn, IA was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southbound on Highway 75 when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and rolled.

No injuries were reported.

The Dodge sustained approximately $2,000 in damage.


On Wednesday April 18, at 7:40 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Chestnut Avenue, seven miles southwest of Rock Valley, IA.

Curtis Smook, age 68, of Magnolia, MN was driving a 2003 Freightliner semi-truck pulling a grain trailer loaded with corn southbound on Chestnut Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch where the truck and trailer rolled onto its side.

No injuries were reported.

The Freightliner sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The trailer sustained approximately $12,000 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Ambulance and Rock Valley Fire Department.


On Wednesday, April 18, 9:52 a.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 18, seven miles northwest of Rock Valley, IA.

Kevin Gault, age 43, of Inwood, IA was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan southbound on Highway 18 when he struck a deer on the roadway.

No injuries were reported.

The Dodge sustained approximately $2,500 in damage.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department.
