(Le Mars) — Work crews have been busy grinding the top layer of asphalt off Central Avenue North in preparations for a new overlay paving project. City officials anticipate the work will be completed within 20 days, and if the weather cooperates, Central Avenue paving project should be completed in time for the annual celebration of “Ice Cream Days” which is scheduled for June 13th through the 16th. The work on Central Avenue South between 2nd Street South and 3rd Street South is nearing completion, and city officials believe it will be open to traffic within the next few days. Downtown businesses remain open during the overlay paving projects. A marketing campaign on KLEM radio and social media is encouraging customers to “take the few extra steps” during this time, and to register to win gift certificates and enjoy special savings at participating stores.
