Life Skills Training Center Prepares For Annual Quilt Auction

(Le Mars) — The upcoming Plymouth County Fair serves as an important function for the Life Skills Training Center of Le Mars, as three of their five fund raising activities happen during the fair. The annual quilt auction, the bossy bingo, and the ice house all serve as financial means for Life Skills. Shelly Thomson with Life Skills says the annual quilt auction, scheduled for Saturday, July 28th at 2:00 p.m. inside Century Hall, is the
second highest fund raiser.

Thomson says the number of quilts received so far are on pace with years past. She says quilts will be delivered right up to the time of the auction.

The Life Skills official says they hope to be able to pick up the pace of the auction this year compared to last year.

During the time of the quilt auction there will also be a silent auction. As mentioned, the quilt auction serves as the second highest fundraiser for Life Skills, second to the annual phone-a-thon that takes place in September.
Thomson talks about how much money has been raised in recent years through the quilt auction.

The other fund raising activities that occur during the Plymouth County Fair that benefit Life Skills are the Bossy Bingo and the Ice House with shaved flavored ice cones. We will discuss those activities in an upcoming news update.
