(Le Mars) — A local physician that has been practicing medicine for more than 25 years was honored as the latest Le Mars Chamber of Commerce’s “Boss of the Quarter.” Dr. Steven Meis was presented the honor Friday afternoon.
Meis was nominated by the Floyd Valley Healthcare staff. The nomination reads: “Not a boss in the traditional sense, but our senior physician has proven leadership skills and is our nominee for Boss of the Quarter. Dr. Meis first started as a member of the medical staff at Medical Associates in 1993 and remains on the staff of Floyd Valley Clinics. Looking back, as we celebrate his 25 years of healthcare in Le Mars, Dr. Meis has held several
positions, including: Medical staff president for two terms, Pediatrics director since 2002, served on the medical ethics committee from 2002 through 2008, Physical Medicine Medical Director since 2005, a member of the Plymouth County Board of Health since 2008, serving as its chairman. He has also been
the Cardiac Rehabilitation Medical Director since 2013. Since 1993, Dr. Meis has delivered and welcomed 509 babies into the world. Taken care of 6,689 inpatients, and treated 2,165 patients through the Emergency Department. In addition to working with multiple hospital staff members, Dr. Meis leads his care team including his Patiet Service Coordinator and nurses every day for
