BREAK-IN BURGLARY AT LE MARS CHURCH

(Le Mars) — Le Mars Police are asking for the public’s input regarding any information about a break-in burglary of the Presbyterian-Church of Christ church of Le Mars.

In a facebook posting, the Le Mars Police says the incident happened sometime in the afternoon of August 5th. Damage was done to the church.

A crime stopper award may be available. No further details will be reported at this time.

OCTOBER CEREMONY WILL CELEBRATE COMPLETION OF HIGHWAY 20 FOUR-LANING

THE DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR THE OFFICIAL DEDICATION OF THE COMPLETION OF THE HIGHWAY 20 FOUR-LANING PROJECT IN NORTHWEST IOWA.

IOWA SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS PARTS OF VOTING LAW INJUNCTION

The Iowa Supreme Court has upheld parts of an injunction against Iowa’s new voting law. Radio Iowa’s Dar Danielson reports.

The League of United Latin American Citizens challenged the constitutionality of three provisions of the law and a Polk County judge granted an injunction blocking provisions of the law until the case can be heard in court.

The Iowa Supreme Court upheld the poritions of the injunction against using signature matching and voter verification numbers for absentee ballots.

It also keeps in place a ban on the Iowa Secretary of State using language that says voters are required to show an ID for an absentee ballot or saying an ID is required for voting in 2018.

The Supreme Court reversed the part of the injunction blocking the reduction of the early voting period from 40 to 29 days.

The Supreme Court order comes one day after the justices heard oral arguments in the case.

REWARD FOR RETURN OF MISSING IOWA STUDENT CONTINUES TO GROW

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – The reward fund offered for the safe return of a missing University of Iowa student has grown to more than $332,000.

Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa in a news release Thursday that 210 individual donors have contributed to the fund and that Crime Stoppers has passed on more than 935 tips to authorities investigating the disappearance of 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts.

Tibbetts was last seen jogging in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa, on July 18. Her family reported her missing the next day when she didn’t show up for work.

Television station KCCI reports that the Tibbetts’ family and her boyfriend were at the state fairgrounds Friday handing out flyers bearing the picture of and information on Tibbetts.
