Le Mars Police Release Additional Information On Rollover Accident

(Le Mars) — A one vehicle accident was reported Sunday, a few minutes after 12:00 noon at the 116 mile marker of Highway 75 near the Wells corporate office. Apparently, the vehicle was heading northbound on Highway 75 when
the vehicle began to exit the highway on Exit 116. The driver realized he instead wanted to exit the highway at Exit #118, and not at Exit #116. The vehicle pulled over to the left shoulder of the road to check his GPS system to find an alternative route and began to loose control of the vehicle. The vehicle swerved back onto the pavement and then off to the left shoulder again. The vehicle then went sideways and began to roll numerous times,
landing on its roof. Only the male driver was inside the car at the time of the accident, and despite the fact his car had rolled several times, the driver was able to escape his car with minor cuts and abrasions. The driver has been identified as 18 year old Miguel Barajas of Sioux City. The Le Mars Police Department is investigating the accident.

Plymouth County Extension Services To Celebrate 100 Years

(Le Mars) — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for Plymouth County is celebrating 100 years of existence. Janelle Johnson, co-coordinator with Plymouth County Extension says a celebratory program is scheduled for Sunday at the Plymouth County Historical Museum.

Johnson says many of the past employees of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach from Plymouth County will be present for the centennial celebration.

Johnson says the Plymouth County Extension office got started with many other county extension programs by filling the need to offer assistance to farmers and homemakers.

Today, Johnson says, each of the 99 Iowa counties offers an extension and outreach program through Iowa State University to provide research and resources to the people. The Plymouth County Extension official says the programs now offered through the county extension services have gone way beyond agronomy, animal sciences, horticulture, and home economics.

Johnson says the Plymouth County Extension and Outreach centennial exhibit will be on display at the Plymouth County
Historical Museum for a few weeks. She says there will also be another feature at the county museum on Sunday.

The program is scheduled for Sunday, September 23rd beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing through 4:00 p.m.
