(Le Mars) — Business Highway 75 is again open to traffic following an accident reported earlier this morning involving a semi truck and a car.
The accident happened on Business Highway 75 near 24th Street at the bridge near the south end of the Le Mars Municipal airport. Two collisions occurred at the scene. The initial accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. this morning. Le Mars Assistant Police Chief Jay King explains what had happened.
While officials were assisting with the initial accident, a second collision occurred at the scene injuring two more people.
Debris was scattered on the highway. Business Highway 75 was shut down and traffic was being diverted away from the scene. Traffic on Business Highway 75 was opened at about 10:50 a.m. The Le Mars Police Department and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office are investigating both collisions.
The Assistant Police Chief says he does not know the extent of the injuries or the current conditions of each victims. Names of the accident victims are being withheld for family notification.
