Promotion Badge Pinning Ceremony Held For Public Safety Officers

(Le Mars) — There were two badge pinning and acknowledgment of promotions ceremonies, along with an oath of office that took place this morning (Tuesday) at the city council chambers prior to the start of the city council meeting. Battalion Chief Steve Schwarz of the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, along with Assistant Police Chief, Justin Daale  participated in the special ceremony.
Several firefighters and law enforcement officials along with family and friends witnessed the badge pinning ceremony. Fire Chief Dave Schipper talks about Schwarz’s firefighting background experience beginning with telling the gathering that Schwarz has been a member of the Le Mars Fire Department for 18 years.

Councilman and Mayor Pro-tem Rex Knapp administered the oath of office for the new Battalion Fire Chief, Steve Schwarz.

Next up was Le Mars Police Chief Kevin Vande Vegte discussing the merits of newly appointed Assistant Police Chief, Justin Daale.

It was then time for the new Le Mars Assistant Police Chief to take the oath of office.

Pinning the Battalion Chief badge to Steve Schwarz was his mother, Cindy.  Justin Daale’s wife, Kari performed the honors for Daale.
