Le Mars Farmers Market Now Open For The Season

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Farmer’s Market is open for the season, and with it are various home grown produce and baked goods, along with crafts. Seven vendors are selling items this Saturday morning at the Farmers Market located on Prospect Street, behind Cork-it. Nikki Decker is a vendor and serves as the coordinator of the Le Mars Farmers Market.

Decker says consumers can be assured with products from a local farmers market it is always fresh.

Decker reviews the products that are for sale at this morning’s farmers market.

The Le Mars Farmers Market vendor explains some of the other items for sale at today’s farmers market.

Decker anticipates more vendors will market their goods as the season progresses.

If anyone wants to become a vendor, and sell their items at the Le Mars Farmers Market, Decker says it is a simple process.

As Nikki Decker mentioned, Iowa State University Extension is at today’s farmers market. Under their tent was a combination of strawberries, onions, and peppers. Allison Bermel is an intern with the extension services and explains their purpose at today’s Le Mars Farmers Market.

Bermel says the Extension Services is answering questions from consumers, and offering education about the produce being sold, and promoting the upcoming Farm to Fork dinner which will be held at the Tucker Hill Vineyards.

The Le Mars Farmers Market will be open until 12:00 noon today, and it is open on Thursday evenings between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
