Governor’s Volunteer Award Recipients

(Storm Lake) — Last Thursday, Plymouth County 4-H, Gehlen Catholic Christian Leadership Team, and Floyd Valley Healthcare were all honored during the Governor’s Volunteer Award’s Ceremony held at Buena Vista University at Storm Lake.  Lt. Governor Adam Greg congratulated those from Plymouth County receiving the honor.  The Governor’s Volunteer Award acknowledges those individuals or organizations for their service to their community.  Representing Floyd Valley Healthcare were Iris Hemmingson, Vi Schrader, and Etta DeJager.  Floyd Valley’s C-E-O and Administrator, Dustin Wright was also in attendance.  Floyd Valley Healthcare nominated the three ladies for their years of volunteering for the local hospital.

Gehlen Catholic Leadership Team, with Alyissa Schipper as the coordinator and participants including Madeline Begnoche, Harley Foreman, Christopher Holzman, Carson Tesch, Isaac Vaskey, and Addison Weber all attended the awards ceremony.  Gehlen Catholic Leadership Team was recognized for its work with senior citizens at our local nursing care facilities.

Janelle Johnson, co-coordinator of Plymouth County Extension and Outreach represented Plymouth County 4-H clubs, and Pat Lehner represented the Grant Clever Clover 4-H club at the awards ceremony.  Both, were nominated by Kara Hitchler for the service the 4-H clubs have contributed to the residences living at Prime Place Estates.

Iowa Lt. Governor Adam Greg presented the awards to all those from Plymouth County, and was featured in the above photo.  Lt. Governor Greg is front row in the center.
