Kingsley-Pierson Advances Past First Round Of State Baseball Tournament

(Des Moines) — The No. 8 Kingsley-Pierson Panthers up-set top-seeded Martinsdale-St. Marys, 3-2 in eight innings during the first round of Iowa High School State Baseball Tournament held Friday morning at Principal Park in Des Moines.  The Panthers tied the game in the sixth on back-to-back RBI singles by Emerson Pratt and Malakie Christopherson.  Matthew Christopherson drove in the go-ahead run in eighth on a sacrifice fly.  K-P returns to Des Moines next Thursday for a 1A semifinal round game against Don Bosco, Gilbertville.
