Kingsley-Pierson And Remsen St. Mary’s Fall Short In State Tourney Semi-finals

Speedy Damon Schmid looks for a chance to steal second.

K-P firstbaseman Matt Bowman leaps for a high throw during the State semifinals against Don Bosco.  Early defensive problems by the Panthers  defense led to an early 5-0 deficit.  Damon Schmid worked the final three innings in relief for K-P but as you can tell, had trouble keeping his hat in place on his delivery to the plate.

Jackson Howe swings and misses at one of Lewis Havel’s sweeping breaking balls.  Havel struck out seven Panther hitters and checked K-P to four hits for the day. Matt Christopherson closed out the game on the mound for coach Doeschot Thursday in the State semifinals against Don Bosco. Freshman Evan Neumann started both State tournament games for Kingsley-Pierson in Des Moines.  He finished 7-2 for the season, taking loss Thursday against Don Bosco.  The pitching future looks bright for the Panthers.
