Feenstra Addresses Plymouth County Republicans At Fund Raiser Event

(Le Mars) — The Republican candidate seeking the position of U-S House Representative  for Iowa’s District 4 was the guest at Thursday evening’s Plymouth County Republican Party Fund Raiser Event.  More than 60 people had attended the event held at the Willow Creek Country Club.  In what was featured as a “talk show” format with both gentlemen seated in comfortable living room style chairs in a casual manner, Randy Feenstra of Hull answered questions from Iowa Republican Party Co-chair Cody Hoefert of Rock Rapids.

Hoefert asked a series of questions of Feenstra ranging from his family, to his background, to his votes during his 12 years as a state senator.  Feenstra says his most important vote while at Des Moines was the “heartbeat” bill that essentially says if a heartbeat can be detected in a fetus of an unborn child, then abortion would be illegal.

Feenstra informed the gathering his most enjoyable vote in the state senate was the tax reduction bill, which Feenstra had authored.  The Republican Congressional candidate says an important lesson he had learned while serving in the Iowa legislature is to “never give up.”

When asked about what historical figure he wishes he could have met, Feenstra responded by saying Abraham Lincoln.  Feensta says he is deeply concerned about the amount of taxes that are taken away from an individual’s and business income.  Feenstra says for many people, at least 35 percent of an individual’s income goes for taxes.  He says the amount is 55 percent for many businesses.  Following his discussions with his fellow Republicans, Feenstra then visited with KLEM news.

Prior to his question and answer session with Randy Feenstra, Iowa Republican Party co-chair Cody Hoefert informed the gathering the upcoming election is the “most important election in our lifetime.”  Hoefert continued by saying, “we must retain the majority in the Senate”, especially for the selection of conservative judges.  Hoefert reminded the group that it is very likely another judge would be appointed to the Supreme Court within the next couple of years, and that Justice nominee would need to appear before the Senate Judicial Committee to secure confirmation.  Hoefert says “Serious times call for serious discussions.”  Also speaking at the event was State Representative Dr. Tom Jeneary of Le Mars.  Jeneary appealed to the emotions of the group of Republicans when speaking about the reasons why America is the greatest nation in the world.

The Plymouth County Republicans held an auction of “Trump-theme” and Republican articles consisting of blankets, hats, a teddy bear, as well as a stainless steel bench.
