Fatal Accident Reported On Sunday Near Hinton

(Hinton) — A tragic fatality accident happened Sunday afternoon at about 2:18 p.m. at the intersection of county roads K-22 and C-60 located about three miles west of Hinton. The accident involved two vehicles. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident. In the traffic accident report,
a 19 year old male was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries. A 2018 Nissan Versa, driven by 18-year old Madison Lussier of Sioux City was heading westbound on C-60 when a 2005 Ford 150 pickup truck driven by 23-year old Adrian Topete-Curiel of
Hawarden was traveling northbound on K-22. The pickup truck was passing a non-involved northbound vehicle when the Lussier vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and crossed in front of the pickup. The pickup then collided with the Lussier vehicle, striking it at the driver’s side. Both vehicles exited the roadway and rolled. Jared Chew, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at MercyOne in Sioux City. Other passengers in the car were
transported to MercyOne, while Topete-Curiel was taken to Unity Point of St. Lukes in Sioux City. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Hinton Fire Department, Hinton Ambulance, and the Merrill Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
