(Cherokee) -- Got the Winter Blues?  You bet...at the Cherokee Jazz and Blues Festival. 
This weekend (January 18th and 19th) marks the 13th year of a mid-January musical celebration in Cherokee.  Musicians will gather from all across the country on Friday and Saturday for the Jazz and Blues Festival, playing at a variety of venues each day. Event coordinator Jim Adamson says that the weekend features all kinds of music.

Friday night kicks off with The Northwest Iowa Musicians playing at the Copper Cup, followed by the 4 location pub crawl.

Saturday begins with a Jam Session hosted by The Candy Makers at The Gathering Place in the afternoon, where anyone is welcome to come and play.  There will be a Big Band Dance at WIT Community College that evening with three other concerts that night.  Adamson says one of those shows features a nationally recognized musician.

Another element of the Cherokee Jazz and Blues Festival is a student workshop where professional musicians and educators will work with area student bands for an hour or more.
