Melvin C. Treptow

Melvin C. Treptow, 91,of Pierson, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Pierson United Methodist Church.  Rev. Bill Cotton will officiate.  Military rites will be conducted at the church by the Harrison F. Pederson American Legion Post #291 of Pierson.   Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Johnson – Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley.  The family will be present to greet friends from 3-7 p.m.  There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Thursday.   Following the funeral service, Melvin's body will be donated for research to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in accordance with his wishes. Alfreda Christina Spooner

Alfreda Christina (Lorenz) Spooner, 84, of Pierson passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa with burial at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.  Rosary will be held at the church at 4 p.m. followed by a Scripture Wake service at 7 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the church.  Arrangements were made under the direction of Rohde Funeral Home.

   

Martha Siebens

Martha Siebens, 99, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron, Iowa with Reverend Sarah Nye officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitations will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. James "Jim" Richters

James “Jim” Richters, 66, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa formerly of Akron, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his daughter’s home in Sergeant Bluff. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Akron, Iowa. Pastor Mike Avery will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa. Magnus Hy. (Henry) Goebel

Magnus Hy. (Henry) Goebel, 91 years old, of Granville, IA, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.  Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3328 and American Legion Post 220 of Remsen.  Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville.
