Gordon Gerling, 91, of Akron, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at New Horizons United Church of Christ in Akron.  Pastor Steve Jewett will officiate.  Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186.  Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com. 

Edward “Ed” Searls, 60, of Akron, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his home in Akron.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron.  Reverend Roger Linnan and Deacon Richard Port will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Akron.  Visitation with the family present will be from noon until 4:00 p.m. with a time of Memory Sharing at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com

Gale A. Rasmussen, 67, of Le Mars, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Presbyterian United of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Janis Christensen will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. Loretta  M. Schieuer, 84, of Anthon, passed away, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Char Mac in Lawton, Iowa.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa.  Burial will be at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa.  Visitation will be Friday, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Wake service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa.  Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa, is handling funeral arrangements.
