LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa (AP) An Iowa Boy Scout camp hit by a deadly tornado continues to make improvements to protect against a similar tragedy in the future.

The Boy Scouts of America, Mid-America Council held a ceremony Saturday to celebrate completion of a storm shelter, RV park and other features at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch.

The camp was destroyed June 11, 2008, when the storm hit. Four Boy Scouts died, including three from Omaha, Neb. Nearly 50 others were injured.

Volunteers have rebuilt the camp, which was rededicated last year. The new buildings are able to withstand winds up to 250 mph.

The camp’s new ranger, Greg “Doc” Schaefer, says he’s confident the new storm shelters will protect scouts, but he hopes they won’t tested by another tornado.
