Le Mars finished second behind the Sioux City North girls and the Le Mars boys finished third behind Sioux City North and Sergeant Bluff-Luton at Plaza Lanes Monday.  Marce Kolker rolled a 336 to lead Le Mars in series scores while Cody Wurth had a 385 to lead the boys.

(LE MARS) — Le Mars swept a Lakes Conference twinbill from Storm Lake Tuesday night at Carey gym, winning the girls game 66-16 and the boys game 68-46.  In the girls game, Le Mars used a 16-0 second quarter to open up a 38-4 halftime lead and coasted in with a 50-point victory.  Emily Anderson led the way with 16 points and Leah Clement added 12.  In the boys game, Le Mars never trailed while pulling away after halftime.  Paxton Strub had 21 points to lead the Bulldogs and Austin Homan added 10.  Trey O’Brien led all scorers with 23 for the Tornadoes.

(LE MARS) — Gehlen spilt their makeup doubleheader with Woodbury Central Tuesday night in the home opener for the Gehlen guys and gals.  The Gehlen girls beat Woodbury Central 58-43 as Steph Rohe had 15 for the Lady Jays and Emily Holtgrewe added 13.  Woodbury Central got 20 points from Grady Gallagher to beat Gehlen 53-39 in the boys game.  Zach Wurth had 12 for Gehlen and Conor Kneip added 11.

Le Mars finished second behind Red Oak in six-team girls field at Lightning Lanes in Council Bluffs.  Danielle Hystad of Le Mars had the top series score with a 390.  The Le Mars boys finished fifth with Council Bluffs A-L winning the team honors.  Mason Prieksat led the Le Mars series scores with a 377.

(SPIRIT LAKE) — Sophomore K.J. Veldman scored 26 points and keyed a 10-0 second half run to lead Spirit Lake to a 51-38 Lakes Conference girls basketball win over Le Mars Friday night in Spirit Lake.  Le Mars jumped out to a 13-2 start but had fallin behind 22-20 by halftime.  A brief 4-0 spurt after intermission had the Lady Bulldogs briefly in front 24-22 before the Indians took the lead for good by the middle of the third quarter.  Emily Anderson led Le Mars with 11.  The Le Mars boys scored the first nine points of the game and led 16-2 after the first quarter enroute to a 56-38 win over Spirit Lake.  Paxton Strub had 22 points for the Bulldogs and Austin Homan added ten.  Le Mars is 3-and-0 for the season and 2-and-0 in the Lakes Conference while the Lady Bulldogs fall to 2-and-3 and 1-and-1 in the Lakes.

(LE MARS) — Gehlen opened War Eagle Conference play Friday night with a doubleheader sweep of Spalding Catholic at the Jays’ nest in Le Mars.  Amber Timmins had a career-high 27 points to lead the Lady Jays to their second win of the week 60-38.  Steph Rohe and Becca Swalve added ten each for Gehlen.  Alex Schuver had 11 for the Spartans.  In the boys game, Gehlen overwhelmed Spalding 65-29.  Eric Loutsch led a balanced Gehlen scoring attack with 16 points with Trevor Bouma adding 11 and Zach Wurth ten.  Brian Hansen had 12 for Spalding.  Both the Gehlen guys and gals improve to 2-and-1 for the season with 1-and-0 conference marks.
