(SIOUX CITY) — Alex Malloy and Wesley Staten combined for 48 points to lead second-rated Bishop Heelan to a 65-44 romp over Le Mars Tuesday night in Sioux City.  Malloy finished with 27 points and Staten added 21 for the Crusaders.  Bishop Heelan led 30-17 at halftime and had extended the lead to 23 by the end of three quarters.  Austin Homan led Le Mars with 16 and Jordan Eisma chipped in with 11 off the bench.  Le Mars goes to the holiday break with a 4-and-2 record.  The Bulldogs return from the Christmas break January 4th with a girl/boy doubleheader against Spencer at Carey gym.

(LE MARS) —  Katelin Langel scored a career-high 18 points to lead Gehlen Catholic to a 54-48 win over West Sioux Tuesday night in Le Mars, knocking the Falcons out of a share of the War Eagle Conference lead.  The Lady Jays led by eleven going into the fourth quarter and held off a fourth quarter rally to secure their fourth win in six games and improving to 3-and-1 in the W-E-C.  Jade Lynn Vlotho led West Sioux with 14 points.

In the boys game, Gehlen overpowered West Sioux 58-18 in one of the more lop-sided outcomes in the history of the series.  The Jays led 34-14 by halftime before outscoring the Falcons 24-4 in the second half.  Taylor Wurth had 16 points for Gehlen and Trevor Bouma added 10.  Austin Peterson had nine for the Falcons.  Gehlen hits the holiday break with a 5-and-1 record and remains tied with South O’Brien and Unity Christian for the W-E-C lead at 4-and-0.  Gehlen’s guys and gals return from the Christmas break January 4th at Akron-Westfield.
