(LE MARS) — The Floyd Valley Federated Garden Club has a vision for Le Mars, bright
yellow flowers lining the streets as soon as the snow melts away. They are starting with
Central Avenue, from 2nd Street south to 9th Street south. Garden Club member Dennis
Wolf says that the daffodil bulbs have already been ordered.

Over the course of the next 10 days, residents on that aformentioned section of Central
Avenue can expect to receive a participation sheet. This sheet will further explain the
objectives of this Le Mars enhancement project, planting instructions and contact
information, if the home owners and renters have any questions.
Wolf says the club chose daffodils because they’re easy to care for, especially the
bright yellow variety that they picked…the King Alfred Daffodil.

When they’re done blooming all you do is pop the seed head off and let them die back.
The free daffodil offer is currently for any home or structure along Central Avenue from
2nd to 9th Street south. Dennis Wolf hopes the project eventually goes further down
Central Avenue and beyond.

That’s as far as flowers go, anyway…no worries ice cream. You’re still number one.
