Two Gas Lines Cut
(LeMars)- Busy day for the LeMars Fire Department as they were called to two cut gas lines. H and D Underground hit the first gas line at 424 2nd street south east while digging for Premier Cable.The fire department was dispatched at 12 pm. When the fire crews arrived there was free flowing gas from the pipe causeing one female resident to be evacuated from the home. The firmen where able to clamp the gas line off. MidAmerican arrived and fixed the line. Fire crews searched the home with their gass meter and determined no gas reached inside the home allowing the resident to return.Then at around 1:20 pm the fire department respnded to another cut gas line at 209 3rd ave se by Mouser Construction. The firemen clamped the line off right away and did not have to evacuate anyone do to the pipe being far enough away from the home. Two trucks and ten firemen respnded to each call.
New Director For LeMars Public Library Named
(LeMars)–The LeMars Public Library has appointed a new director last night. Shirley Taylor, who has been working at the Sioux Center Public Library since November, says she is excited to be the new director.

Plynouth County Board Recives Go Ahead On New Bridge

Convention Date Set
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Republicans will choose a candidate for the 3rd Congressional District at a nominating convention June 21 in Creston.
Iowa Republican Party Chairman Danny Carroll announced Wednesday that 513 delegates will gather at Creston High School to select a nominee.
The task is required because none of the six people who sought the GOP nomination topped the 35 percent threshold for votes required by state law.
State Sen. Brad Zaun received the most votes but only 25 percent of all votes cast.
The nominee will face Democrat Staci Appel, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
The 3rd District covers much of southwest Iowa, stretching from Des Moines to Council Bluffs.
