Car Hits Concrete Overpass Bridge
(Le Mars) — A one car accident happened this morning at about 8:20 a.m. on Highway 75 a half mile north of Le Mars near the junction of Highways 75 and 60, near Fedder’s Marine and RV. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s office is still investigating the scene, but apparently the car, driven by 62 year old Daryl Hibma of Sioux Center was traveling southbound on Highway 75 when it had drifted over the centerline and then struck the overpass cement bridge. It is believed that either Hibma had a medical condition or perhaps fell asleep. Hibma was removed from the vehicle by the Le Mars Fire Department and transferred to the Le Mars Ambulance. Hibma was taken to the Floyd Valley Hospital via the Le Mars Ambulance. Responding to the accident were the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Le Mars Ambulance, Le Mars Police Department, Iowa Department of Transportation and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s office.
