(Le Mars) — Shortly after 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department was called to the American Legion hall located on the 100 Block of Plymouth Street southwest. When fire officials arrived on the scene, smoke was seen coming from inside the structure. Apparently, a laminate cover was on top of the stove, when someone had started the stove, causing the laminate to ignite. Fire officals were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and ventilate the building using fans. Little damage had occured other than the piece of laminate had burned and there is some smoke damage within the Legion Hall.
