Teen Driver Escapes Serious Injuries From Accident

(Oyens) — A 16 year old male teenager, on his way to work, can consider himself lucky after suffering only scrapes and minor cuts after he was involved with an auto accident.  The accident happen this morning at about 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of county road K-64 and 205th Street, about three miles south of Highway 3.  The vehicle had a rear tire blow out and lost tread, which caused the teen to lose control of his vehicle.  The car entered a ditch, then hit a culvert and embankment causing the car to flip end-over-end landing on its top. The teen said he was wearing his seat belt, and a Plymouth County Sheriff’s deputy believes that may have prevented additional and perhaps more severe injuries.  Both the Oyens Fire Department and the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department responded to the one-vehicle accident, as well as the Le Mars Ambulance.  The Plymouth County Sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
