Farm Progress Show To Begin On Tuesday

(Boone) — It is often referred to as a farmer’s shopping center. The Farm
Progress Show is the largest outdoor farm and equipment show, and it begins on
Tuesday, August 30th and runs for three days on a field in central Iowa near
Boone.
This year’s Farm Progress Show features more than 600 exhibitors and covers nearly
an entire section of land. The Farm Progress Show alternates between Illinois and
Iowa every other year. Matt Jungman (Youngman) is the Farm Progress Show’s
National Show Manager, and he compares it to an auto show.

Farm Progress Show

In past years, the Farm Progress Show has demonstrated new combine harvesters and
other equipment, along with seed performance with in-field harvest demonstrations.
Jungman says show officials and seed companies planted early maturing season
crops, and field demonstrations will occur again during this year’s farm show.

The Farm Progress Show manager says several companies, will unveil new equipment
at the three-day farm show.

Despite the fact the farm economy is currently suffering from low commodity
prices, and farm equipment companies have made some lay-offs, Jungman believes
farmers will still have an interest in attending this year’s Farm Progress Show.

To locate the outdoor farm show, farmers need to follow Highway 30 past Boone, and
then turn on Highway 17. The show site can be seen on the north side of Highway
30. The admission is $15.
