Authorities Investigate Female Dead Body At Kingsley  (Updated)

(Kingsley) — Plymouth County authorities, along with the Kingsley Police Department are investigating an incident that happened at Kingsley leaving a woman dead. The Plymouth County Communications Center received a 911 call regarding an individual who was reported to be deceased.  The caller was notified by a person coming to work at Scootch’s bar in Kingsley.  The address which was given to law enforcement and ambulance personnel was in the alley behind 118 Main Street.  The Kingsley Police Department, Kingsley Ambulance and Kingsley Fire Department, along with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office responded.  Upon arrival by first responders, it was evident that the female was deceased.  After a brief investigation at the scene, a 67 year old female from Kingsley was taken to Floyd Valley Healthcare where Plymouth County Coroner, Dr. Sheila Holcomb performed an examination.  There were no signs of foul play and the investigation is closed at this time.  The name of the victim has not yet been released.

 

 

Orange City Area Health System Opens New Clinic

(Orange City) — Orange City Area Health System has opened a new walk-in clinic located along Highway 10 at the Holland Plaza strip mall near the movie theater and P’s Pizza House. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held Friday morning.  Steve Walhof is the Director for Clinic Services and says the new clinic was requested by the hospital’s board of directors.

Walhof says the new clinic will focus primarily on acute medical needs.

The director of clinics says the new walk-in clinic will assist patients during the evening and weekends.

The new clinic will be staffed on a rotational basis with a physician, a physician’s assistant, and nurse practitioners. Liza Schouten is the clinic’s manager and says the clinic already has started seeing patients on Monday.

The new walk-in clinic consists of a waiting area, three separate
examination rooms, and a small laboratory. The new walk-in clinic at Holland Plaza is the fifth clinic operated by Orange City Area Health System with additional clinics located at the main campus hospital, Northwestern College, Hospers and Paullina.

 

 

Settlement Between State And Three Department Of Revenue Employees May Not Be Over

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – A settlement between the state of Iowa and three of its Department of Revenue workers whose genitals were secretly photographed by a male colleague while they were going to the bathroom won’t bring the matter to a close, as files found on the fired employee’s work computer show
he may have victimized dozens of other men. The State Appeal Board voted Monday to settle the 2017 lawsuit brought by Daniel Wagner, Lloyd Lofton and Joshua Bates for $900,000. The men, who will each pocket $185,290, said coworker Kenneth Kerr stalked them at work and that supervisors failed to act when they complained about it.

 

 

Senator Ernst Fundraising Efforts Is Being Questioned

WASHINGTON (AP) – Documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal an outside group founded by top political aides to Sen. Joni Ernst is working closely with the Iowa Republican to raise money and boost her reelection prospects. Some legal experts say the degree of overlap between her campaign
and the nonprofit Iowa Values could violate the law. Emails show Ernst fundraiser Claire Holloway Avella asked a donor for $50,000 for the group following an introduction by the senator. Ernst’s attorney says they followed the law. But some attorneys say Holloway Avella’s request could cross a legal line because she was working on Ernst’s behalf.

 

 

Des Moines Police Arrest Murder Suspect

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Police say a man has been charged with first-degree murder in a deadly Des Moines shooting. Police say in a news release that 39-year-old Wayne Jemerigbe, of Des Moines, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police believe Jemerigbe shot and killed 29-year-old Karlos Goldman
Jr. Goldman was found Monday afternoon with a gunshot wound inside a pickup truck. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

 

 

Former Law Enforcement Officer Is Being Charged With Sexual Abuse Of Two Boys

GRINNELL, Iowa (AP) – A former Iowa law enforcement officer who fled the state after allegedly threatening to kill several family members has been charged with sexually abusing two young boys. The Des Moines Register reports that 35-year-old Jonathan Wayne Bailey has been charged with eight
counts of child endangerment, seven counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of sexual exploitation. The newspaper says Bailey is a former Polk County Jail detention officer and former Eagle Grove police officer. Court documents say Bailey was arrested Nov. 21 in Georgia, where Grinnell police
say he had fled after threatening to kill his wife and her parents.
