(Le Mars) — Area children had the opportunity to see farm equipment up close, and also have fun as Agri-Vision of Le Mars, the local John Deere dealer, held its “Day of Play” event Tuesday evening at the implement dealer’s location. Kris Westhoff, the coordinator of the event, says the farm equipment company wants children to learn more about farms, while having fun. The event featured tractor rides that had “buddy seats” to insure safety. Two bouncy inflatables consisting of a barn and silo, along with an inflatable resembling a John Deere combine harvester were available for the children to play on and slide down. The farm equipment company offered a couple of boxes of corn allowing the smaller children to use as a sand box and play with farm-related toys. Middle aged children were allowed to race around a track driving their battery operated Gators. The event featured ice cream, crafts, and temporary tattoos as part of the evening’s fun.
