Firefighters Respond To House Fire At Brunsville

(Brunsville) — Firefighters from Le Mars and Merrill responded to a house that was on fire in Brunsville. The fire was reported at about 2:10 p.m. Monday afternoon. Fire and Rescue members needed to remove siding from the house to make certain they could extinguish the flames that had penetrated through the outer wall of the home. Fire Chief Dave Schipper says the call
was made by a passer-by who happened to notice the house was burning.

Schipper offers and estimate as to the damage to the home.

In addition to battling the fire, the heat was also a factor as temperatures soared to the 90’s with heat index at 101. Several firefighters were seen using bottled water to keep themselves hydrated, as well as pouring the water on their heads to keep them cool. Firefighters were on scene for a little more
than an hour and a half.
