Man Who Killed Fort Dodge Pastor Sentenced To Life In Prison

(Fort Dodge, IA)  —  A man who killed a Fort Dodge pastor two years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.  Joshua Pendleton was convicted of first-degree murder in April.  Prosecutors told the court the Reverend Al Henderson was found unresponsive outside St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Investigators say Pendleton attacked the 64-year-old Henderson after he was told to stop entering the building.  The trial was delayed several times as the court addressed Pendleton’s mental health issues.  The family says he has been diagnosed as schizophrenic.

 

 

 

Man’s Body Discovered In Big Sioux River

(Sioux City, IA)  —  Sioux City Fire-Rescue reports a man’s body was found in the Big Sioux River over the weekend.  Emergency responders were called Saturday after fishermen spotted the body in the water at about 6:00 p-m.  The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy for official identification and to determine the cause of death.  Authorities aren’t saying how long the body was in the river.  The autopsy will help determine if foul play was involved in the death.

 

 

 

Iowa Suspect Leads Authorities On Chase Into Omaha After Being Shot

(Omaha, NE)  ––  An Iowa suspect led authorities on a chase from Council Bluffs into Omaha after being shot.  The Iowa Department of Corrections Fourth Judicial District’s High-Risk Unit was searching for Kelsey Hanna and Brandon Hines when they were spotted.  Agents say Hines put their vehicle in reverse, backed into a squad car, and was shot while speeding away.  Hanna and Hines were finally taken into custody after the chase ended in Omaha.  Hines was taken to a hospital for treatment, but he is expected to recover.

 

 

 

Vermeer Manufacturing Expanding Pella Headquarters, Adding 100 Jobs

(Pella, IA)  —  Vermeer Manufacturing is expanding its corporate headquarters in Pella.  The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved more than two-point-two million dollars in tax refunds and credits last month for the expansion.  Company officials estimate the 44-million-dollar project will add 100 new jobs to the local economy.  Vermeer makes industrial and agricultural machines.  It broke ground last week on a 312-thousand square-foot distribution center.
