Remsen St. Mary’s Football Builds Back Following State Championship Season

In 2020, Remsen St. Mary’s led Iowa eight-player football on a magical 12-0 run towards a shutout in the state championship game. That magical run concluded the careers of one of the best senior classes to walk through the halls of Remsen St. Mary’s.

The senior class the football team graduated had led the program to three playoff appearances and a state title. Remsen St. Mary’s head football coach, Tim Osterman, says that the impact this class had on the program will be tough to replace.

While the Hawks replace a great senior class, Coach Osterman says that he has a whole group of guys ready to step into those positions.

With these guys stepping into the critical roles, Coach Osterman hopes that his team can still play very similar to last year’s team without that group of seniors.

The Hawks open up 2021 with a non-district game with Harris-Lake Park. In the last couple of days of practice, Coach Osterman is trying to iron out the details with his team.

Remsen St. Mary’s opens up with Harris-Lake Park at home at 7:00 PM on Friday before they head to Correctionville and take on River Valley to open up district play in Week 2.
