Gehlen Catholic Football Stifled by H-M-S Ground Game

Gehlen Catholic’s district scheduled opened up on the road with a 44-33 loss to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

H-M-S had a lot of success on the ground to the tune of 435 yards and six rushing touchdowns throughout the game. Head Coach Jeremy Schindler says that size of players like Kooper Ebel allowed them to break off large runs most of the night.

That said, Coach Schindler knows that the Jays helped H-M-S by struggling to make good clean tackles.

On the offensive side, Gehlen Catholic had their passing attack working for long plays against the Hawks. Quarterback Conner Kraft threw for 300 yards and four TDs with three of the four TDs going for 50 yards or more. Coach Schindler says that, after a few pass interference calls, the Jays were able to use their speed to lead to big plays.

The schedule does not get any easier for the 0-2 Jays as they will matchup with A.P. #6 Lawton-Bronson on Friday night. Coach Schindler says this week of practice will be focused on getting the ground game going on offense and improving tackling fundamentals on defense.

The Jays and Eagles kick off at 7:00 PM in Lawton on Friday night. You can listen to the game on KLEM 1410 AM or 96.9 FM and can watch the game on the KLEM Radio YouTube Channel.
