Le Mars Football Opens District Play With Homecoming Win

Le Mars football celebrated homecoming week with a win to open district play by beating Storm Lake 36-14.

The Bulldogs did not star the game on the right foot. Storm Lake scored the first touchdown of the game on a touchdown run from Eduardo Sanchez. Le Mars Head Coach, Ken Vigdal, says that his team needed a push in the right direction to get going on Friday night.

Part of Le Mars’ improvement was their play on the defensive line. Coach Vigdal highlighted his defensive ends’ ability to keep the Tornadoes from getting runs in between the tackles.

The Bulldog offense went on to score the next 36 points in the win. The first four touchdowns all went to different players. Coach Vigdal says that, for his offensive to run effectively, he needs everyone involved all the time.

The Bulldogs take a 1-0 district record on the road tomorrow night at Webster City. It will be a strong test for the Bulldog defense who will see something very unique in the Lynx offense.

Le Mars and Webster City kick off at 7:00 from Webster City on Friday night. KLEM Radio will provide live radio and video coverage of the game.
