Le Mars Fire-Rescue had a busy weekend.
Not only did they have our annual awards banquet, they also responded to 18 calls from Saturday morning until Sunday night including medical calls and fire calls.
One of the calls included a vehicle and field fire at 7:44pm on Sunday night on Marble Ave north of Hwy 3 on the east edge of town.
The vehicle ignited when cornstalks were heated by the exhaust on the vehicle and caught fire.
The fire consumed the pick-up truck and the fire spread across the cornstalk stubble field.
